Chugwater is a little town situated between Cheyenne and Wheatland, WY. It is the home of the Swan Land and Cattle Company, which was previously the center of a million-acre Scottish owned ranching operation, but is now a national historic landmark. The town does not have a lot to offer; however, Chugwater has become famous for its award-winning “Chugwater Chili” and chili seasoning. If you’re not in a hurry or simply want to wait until the wind on I-25 is at a minimum, stop in and have a meal at the Chugwater Soda Foutain, which is also a grocery store. The chili is hot and served within minutes after placing your order, in addition to them making sodas, shakes, and malts the way they were made a century ago. The Soda Foutain is family-owned, has great customer service and family friendly. The Soda Foutain also sells the chili spice, but it is quite pricey, i.e. $4.00 per pack. Lastly, there is a museum within the town; however, it is only open between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
