One of DC’s most popular museums, the International Spy Museum delivers fun, interactive exhibits portraying the flashy, over-the-top world of intelligence gathering. Highlights include an immersive exhibit exploring communist Berlin, a Situation Room experience of the capture of Osama bin Laden, and an exploration of potential future cyber threats against international security. There is also an opportunity to view James Bond’s tricked out Ashton Martin and the KGB’s lipstick concealed pistol.
When you enter the museum, you will have an opportunity to play the role of a secret agent by adopting a cover, including a spy name. You will be assigned a mission that as you go through the museum, you can find clues and get mission updates.
The museum does not possess a cafe; however, you are allowed to bring water to stay hydrated. Adjacent to the museum in L’Enfant Plaza, there is variety of restaurants, such as Brown Bag, Panda Express, Gourmet Too, Pho Express, Potbelly, Roti Modern Mediterranean. Some of the restaurants are only open Monday – Friday. Additionally, the museum offers timed tickets and depending on the time of your visit you can park outside the museum on street parking where you can pay per hour. However, if there is also a garage in L’Enfant Plaza.
