The First White House of the Confederacy was the residence of President Jefferson Davis and family while the capitol of the Confederacy was in Montgomery, Alabama. There is no cost to view the house and it is completely furnished with original period pieces from the 1850s and 1860s.
Side street parking is available with a parking meter. The volunteer provided a great overview of the residence, but guests take a self-guided tour. While the house has tons of historic furniture, the second floor contains artifacts from President Jefferson and First Lady Varina Howell Davis.
